Allright guys and girls, it's time for another journal enty by cB :iconcolorfulbrony:

You might not know it, but today is a special day, more or less, we call it "Mauerfall" or more often "Tag der deutschen Einheit", which translates to "Day of german unity". Today we in germany celebrate the reunion of germany in 1989. After WW2 germany was splitted in 4 parts so it couldn't start a 3rd war (yes the 1st world war was triggered by a conflict between Austria and Serbia but after it ended it was officially declared as only germany's fault yeah now I could share my historical knowlege about the WW1 as well, but I think that would make the whole thing too long ^^ ) After a short while the western zones  united (at first the english and american zone and then later the french one as well) and formed the BRD ("Bundesrepublick Deutschland" somthing along the lines of german republic), not too late after that the soviet zone responded by founding the DDR ("Deutsche Demokratische Reupublik" means as much as democratic republich of germany)
After a lot of people tried to escape from the DDR, a big wall was built between the two new founded nations. It wasn't quite the best period in german history.
Now you might ask. "But cB, it is just 3rd October, you know that germany was reunited on 9th of November, right?" well my well informed history-experts, then you also should know that on the same date in 1938 was the "Reichskristallnacht" or "Reichsprogromnacht" the first big violent act against the jews in the 3rd Reich, where their shops and homes where destroyed, the Synagoges burned and a lot of them where killed or arrested, so it wouldn't be right to make that date an official holiday, (also on that date was the execution of Robert Blum (1848),the Novemberrevolution in Berlin (1918) and Hitlers failed revolt in Munich (1923) so the 9th of November or the 9.11. since we put the day in front of the month, is probbablly the most important date in german history )
So there you have it, that's why on the 3rd of October we celebrate the reunion of germany, and by celebrating I mean not going to school =P

This kinda inspired me for a picture...more or less, here you go :D :
